Making a Change

I think one common thing that we all experience is the desire to make a difference in the world.

We all secretly want to be this modern world Ghandi who changed the lives of millions. Now in reality, this probably isn’t going to be any of us. It’s just not realistic.

But that’s not to say that we can’t make a change, that we can’t make a difference.

The small worlds that we have created around us are the ones who we have the most influence on. Our friends, our family, our followers.

Think about it. If you post something, one other person is guaranteed to read it. And if they like it, they’ll show it to a friend. And so on. You have more influence in this world than you believe.

For me personally, I realize I don’t have a huge following, but I would like to think that I am making a change in the lives of many people via veganism. If we constantly get discouraged by not having a million followers to hear our voice, we tend to ignore the followers we do have who are listening with open ears.

Even if it is just in your own life. Don’t like the direction your life is going in? Change it! Nobody is holding you back except for yourself.

I read this tweet by President Obama and it really inspired me

We all have the ability to create change. If you chose to waste your ability, that’s okay. It your choice. But if you chose to use yours- don’t back down. No matter how many people fight back, no matter how many people try to invalidate your opinion, keep speaking. One day you’ll find people who will listen, and who will join you.
